Gas and Seige guns

Post by Snowbart1943 »

If you have a regular Arty unit and a Seige unit in the same hex, and youre going to use gas, wouldnt you use gas in the normal battery and just cause destruction with HE ammo with the seige gun? Basically, since seige guns cause more destruction(dont they?), there is no benefit to using gas in seige guns vs regular guns, right?

It doesn't matter.

Siege guns are only better at destroying permanent fortresses.

If a city has zero fortification level, is there any value to using seige guns in attacking vs regular Arty?

Siege guns do have a higher offensive rating as well though, no?

I see German artillery is the same, but Austrian siege artillery seems to be more powerful.
(Austrian normal arty has a penalty).

Yes normal Austrian artillery is worth 2 points, siege arty is 3.

French, British & German artillery is 3 points per unit in 1914, everyone else is 2 except siege - all siege starts at 3 (assuming you bought some for say the Russians)

Do Seige guns not do a better job of killing than regular guns?

Nope - killing people is all the same.  The only thing Siege guns do differently is KO trenches & Forts

I was under the impression that siege guns only have a special capability against fortifications and not also against trenches ?
