Questions and Oddities

Post by Joel Rauber »

Oddities:

a) I've noticed retreating units moving into neutral countries. Both the French and Germans into Switzerland. And AAR's have reported other instances. Is this intended? Are the units "interned" or can they function normally?

b) I noticed that when Serbia surrendered to AH, that the there were still a few hexes that retained their Serbian control flags for several impulses. I could move AH infantry into the hexes, so I assume that this was only a display glitch

c)As the TE player, my air reconnaissance was doing odd things. I would air recon a hex and frequently only one of the stacked units would be displayed with its information, the others retaining full FOW status. Also, on at least one occasion, I clicked the recon and a different hex than the one I clicked lost its FOW status?

d)The Russians had taken Danzig and an AH unit retreated east into Russian controlled terretory, it took about for impulses to chase it and finally have it eliminated. What was going on? I'm not clear if it was actually a unit or a display glitch.

Questions:

a) Can units strategic move into a owner controlled hex that is surrounded by enemy controled hexes? I think I had this happen. The instance I remember was on the Swiss border, so technically the owner controlled hex was surrounded by enemy controlled and neutral hexes.
Any relationship between what I say and reality is purely coincidental.

c) I noticed this last night.  I clicked air recon on a hex and no info appeared on the counter- however if I moused over the hex the info appeared in the display box.  strange

d) had the same thing happen last night as well.  a lone austrian cavalry unit (A Ghost corps perhaps[&:]) appeared in East Prussia.  I attacked it and it retreated through my units to the west.  I had a line of Russians splitting East Prussia in half so there's no way it could've gone around them for some reason.

Not intended but I've never been able to get a saved game for it.  Do you have one?

b) I noticed that when Serbia surrendered to AH, that the there were still a few hexes that retained their Serbian control flags for several impulses. I could move AH infantry into the hexes, so I assume that this was only a display glitch

Yes
d)The Russians had taken Danzig and an AH unit retreated east into Russian controlled terretory, it took about for impulses to chase it and finally have it eliminated. What was going on? I'm not clear if it was actually a unit or a display glitch.

I'd have to see it.  It shouldn't be able to enter an enemy hex without an HQ and HQs that are out of supply can't go on the offensive.  Perhaps its a reinforcement that is arriving in an illegal hex.

Shouldn't be able to happen.  If it has I'd like to see a save for it also if you have one.

Frank,

First thanks for the great game and the quick and kindly responses you are giving folks on this board.

Unfortunately I haven't been religious about saving games for the oddities.  I'll try to do better as I understand there lack of saved games severely hampers your ability to deal with oddities/bugs/ or user halluecinations.

I'll check my few saves.  I assume that hjaco has given you an example of the AH "ghost" corps.

Frank,

I have a save game for oddity (c).  Is that of interest?

One more oddity crept up.  I just loaded a save game where I was the TE.  Then I loaded a different save game where I was the CP, but all the CP units were FOWed and I could see the TE units,  in other words, it behaved as if it thought I was the player from the previous load.  (I did not close the game between loads and both were solitaire games).  This is the game where question (a) occured, however it is a couple of turns after the strategic move incident occured so I assume it would be a useless file for you.

Absolutely!

On the FOW/side thing, the display should have updated immediately with the new load, if you have the two saves (one from each side) send them along and I can check it.  if you don't I can probably reproduce it.
