Killing artillery

Post by James Ward »

I seem to have a lot of trouble killing artillery units. Even if I wipe out the troops in a hex it seems like the artillery units survieis and retreats. The manual says you can destroy damaged artillery by barraging them agian but can they be destroyed by ground combat also?

They can be destroyed by being overrun although is happens very seldom.

You have to occupy all surrounding hexes - concentrate on killing his army instead [:D]

With any HQ's the army is pretty useless eh? [:)]

Seriously though I'm not sure if I've ever killed an HQ even when they were surrounded because I can't see the other side. I should try a hot seat game against myself but I think it would be rather boring. The real charm of this game is how little you really know about the other sides condition.

HQs and artillery units are destroyed if they have no place to retreat to, in other words if they are in the same hex as enemy corps and there are no friendly corps in the same hex.

Artillery is also destroyed if it has taken 6 damage from enemy artillery.
