Fatal Error 200

Post by niceguy2005 »

I had a catastophic computer failure...really, the thing nearly caught fire! [X(]

While the computer is toast, my hard disk appears ok and I have removed it and put it in an enclosure and can access it via USB.

My current configuration is as follows. Windows XP trying to run CHS from external drive E:

When I try to open the Witp .exe I get a fatal error 200 right off the bat. What does that error code mean?

Is this type of operation supported?

The short answer is that to fix the problem you should reinstall from original media and then reapply comprehensive patch v1.8.0.4 and then incremental patch v1.8.0.6 this will fix the problem. You will probably experience a "synch" issue in replay for ingoing games, but this should cease of its own accord after a turn or so.

thank you for the reply jwilkerson, but is this comment for me?

I am working off a loaner computer right now from work. When I get my new computer I will reinstall the program and patch it up to 1.806. However, being a work computer I'm hesitant to put a game on it...don't want to give them the wrong impression. [;)]

In the meantime, I was hoping to play my copy of witp off an external drive. Is that supported?

i DON'T think you have to worry about reinstalling CHS - just the main WITP program. (also responded to in BOB section).
