I Paid For It. I Have It. I'd Like To Play It.

Post by New York Jets »

I purchased acopy of For Liberty! back in January.

I tried to run it tonight and it would not run. So, I decided to uninstall it and reinstall it.

I uninstalled it. I had to ignore some error messages when I uninstalled it but it was uninstalled. When I went to reinstall it and i entered the serial number on the CD it said that the serial number was invalid. I checked the number and it was the one on the CD and the one on my game registration page at Matrix yet it would still not accept it.

I even re-downloaded the game and tried installing it and even copied and pasted the serial number from the 'my games' page at Matrix and it still would not accept the serial number.

Please Help!

What were the error messages? I'm not aware of why there would be any error messages during uninstallation, so I'm guessing this is related to the later issue.

That's extremely odd. You're installing using the installer from the CD and entering the serial number as provided, with dashes (i.e. XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX)?
I even re-downloaded the game and tried installing it and even copied and pasted the serial number from the 'my games' page at Matrix and it still would not accept the serial number.

I find it very odd that the installer won't accept the serial number, to say the least. You bought this back in January and apparently installed it successfully then, right?

Are you running any kind of anti-virus/security software that could be interfering with the installer?

Regards,

- Erik

I don't recall the exact error messages. There were four of them and I was given the "Abort, Retry, Ignore, Cancel" options.

My security software is PC-cillan Internet Security 14.

It downloaded and installed just fine when I bought it in January with the same security software.

Any help would be appreciated as I really would like to play this game. I have played it before I don't know why it worked then and not now.

I have tried everything. Deleting files, system restore. I actually got it installed once but it would not run because it could not locate the .exe file.

Now I cannot unistall it or reinstall it.

Well, i finally got it to installand run. I had to go into the registry and delete the "For Liberty!" file.

After that it installed and ran just fine.

Although I have to use the Quick Start option instead of the Main Menu.
