VISTA

Post by Javigato »

Hello all, I haven't been playing for a long long time and recently I got a new notebook with VISTA. Since this is the one I use the most, I thought of installing the game there. Does any one know if the game plays ok with VISTA? THanks!

I don't have any experience with it myself (believe it or not I have Windows2000 - back when XP came out I wanted the old "already debugged" operating system instead of the new "still to be debugged" one).

However, there were some promising reports on this thread:

a511, if you see this then please give us your experience with the new laptop.

Plus, anyone else who has Vista please chime in.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one! [:D]

I didn't find a reason yet to change to resource hungry WinXP, but I guess that'll be just a matter of time.

hi,

im using vista and things generally doing fine except that i think vista use a lot of RAM and my laptop (with only 1G RAM) slows down occasionaly when running AWD and, in some rare moments, hang when the laptop is resumed after going to the sleep mode.

not sure whether things will improve if i add more RAM ...

Mmh. Maybe is for i'm not amministrator of the PC? It's very strange. On XP there is no problems, on Vista the office PC don't read the DVD. I will retry.

EDIT: May be something wrong with the DVD reader?

I am able to play AWD on my wife's HP laptop running vista. It is a dual core AMD Duron 2 megahz (is that right? I get gig and meg mixed up), with 2 gig ram and 128 integrated video. It definitely runs slower than on my PC, but it works fine. I don't know if this is a vista thing, but the game will lock up on both my PC and laptop if I leave it on without activity for an extended period (say 1/2 hour). Otherwise it works just fine.
