Step 1. Right Click on your shortcut and select 'Properties'
Step 2. In the Properties you will find a box that says 'Target' (under 'Target Location')
Step 3. Here is what my 'Target' says: "C:\Matrix Games\Steel Panthers World At War\Mech.exe" Yours will say something similar
Step 4. Type impatient after your Target String
Step 5. Here is what it looks like on my PC: "C:\Matrix Games\Steel Panthers World At War\Mech.exe" impatient
That's all there is to it.
my target now says: "D:\SPIELE\Matrix Games\Steel Panthers World At War\mech.exe" impatient
but i have STILL the animations. what have i done wrong?
Try removing the space between them. I don't remember if there was one or not. You will still see the primary weapon fire, regardless of the impatient command. It is the remaining weapons (slots 2,3,4) that are removed when using the command. If you are only seeing the primary fire right now, then the command line is correct as shown.
Goblin
I think hoek is misunderstanding what 'impatient' does. 'Impatient' does NOT remove ALL firing animations. 'Impatient' only removes the firing animations of non-primary weapons (weapons slots 2-4). There will always be a firing animation from the primary weapon (weapon slot 1) whether you use 'impatient' or not.
EDIT: On second thought, perhaps the space should not be there. It's been years since I've used the 'impatient' command switch and I might have forgotten whether the space should be there or not. However, in the original thread in which this question was asked, the original poster did not have any complaints about the space being there. So, I think that the space should be there after all. --V
On a slow computer a big game can take a long time for the computer to perform each turn. If you don't own a fast computer, then turns are going to take a long time for the computer.
Here are some things you can do to speed things up:
1. Turn OFF your Message Delay.
2. Turn OFF your Live Delay.
3. Turn OFF your Movement Delay.
By 'turn off' I mean that you make those settings XXX (enter 0 in those settings and you will get XXX).
I play with those settings turned OFF and it speeds up the game significantly.
Another reason to turn OFF those settings is that it takes away human advantage against the computer. By not being able to see and read all those messages during the game, the human player is placed in a 'Fog of War' which makes the game more challenging (as well as speeding up the game). The only time I don't turn those settings OFF is when I'm playing PBEM against another human. But against the computer, I always use those settings turned OFF.
EDIT: In addition, turn OFF your controlled Op-Fire (set it to 0 just like those other settings above). This will speed up the game. I always have my controlled Op-Fire turned OFF because using controlled Op-Fire gives the human an advantage against the computer. The computer doesn't get to use controlled Op-Fire, so I don't allow myself to use controlled Op-Fire either. And it speeds up the game.
