Austro-Hungarian generals' names

Post by Rhetor »

Since I don't have the game yet, I can rely only on what I have seen in the J P Falcon's "Quck Guide Central Powers 1914". There I have seen that two Austro-Hungarian generals are named "Krasnik" and "Komarow". That is a misconception. These were not their names, but titles awarded for their victories over the Russians in 1914. If we tried to name in the same way British generals for example, Kitchener would be replaced with "Khartoum", and Montgomery with "Alamein". Moreover, these names appear from the beginning of the game, when the battles of Krasnik and Komarow have not yet been fought.

In the literature these two A-H generals are commonly refered to by their proper names - Victor Dankl and Moritz Auffenberg.

There are perhaps more of such altered names. I'll look for it when I buy the game. I deliberately postpone that, because currently I have loads of work to do.
