Small UI suggestion - VCR screen positioning

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

Small UI suggestion - VCR screen positioning

Post by GKar »

I don't know about everyone else, but there's one thing I do at the beginning of 99% of my PBEM turns: I open the replay console (that VCR style thing) and move it out of the way, usually into the upper right corner. I have to do that carefully though, because if the mouse moves quickly I'll just lose it on the way. This seems an unnecessary nuisance to me.

I know it's not a big issue, but maybe it'd be easy to change as well: Why not open this console in the corner in the first place? I can't think of a gameplay reason not to, because in the middle of the screen it hides the most interesting parts. And my guess is that most others move it out of the middle as well.

So while you're at changing things WH, could you please try to change the positioning of that window as well? [&o]

I do EXACTLY the same thing. I'll look into it.

Same here, but I move it down in the middle of the screen, so that only upper part of vcr is visible[;)]

Ideally, it would be one of those things that is remembered, so when you fire up the game it will be placed wherever you put it last time. Not sure if I'll get to that though. I did move it to the upper right corner, but to figure out how to save it in the settings file is a whole new exploration of the code.

Thanks a lot already! [:)]

Moving it to the upper right corner is enough for me, although saving the position would be even better of course.
