Siege artillery

Post by SMK-at-work »

Now that siege arty is only 1 point I think perhaps it's been emasculated a little bit too much?

I'd like to see it changed a bit so it ignores trenches - it's only ever a 1 pt bombardment, so this won't be overpowering it in any way IMO.

Also I've been thinking how the Krupps 420mm howitzers destroyed Liege, but essentially bounced off Verdun.

Id it possible to have different effects for different level forts?

IMO Liege should only be a level 2 fort - it was obsolete in 1914, having no reinforced concrete and old guns that were under contract to be replaced (by Krupp of all people!)

Verdun should be level 3 - a single circle of modern reinforced concrete forts.

IIRC only Paris gets level 4, and it has 2 rows of forts - an outer one of relatively modern works, and an inner one of old works dating from before 1840.

So IMO Siege arty should only have a random chance of KO'ing a fort point on forts that start at level 3 and 4 - and they should be restricted to that chance even if the fort is reduced.

Say a 1/3rd chance of KO'ing 1 fort level?
