Struggle for LEBENSRAUM --- trollelite (A) vs. Benoit (J)

Post by trollelite »

This is a slow-going PBEM game

Now is 11-Dec. In previous 5 days of war:

IJN attacked PH in the first turn, sank USS. West Virginia, but otherwise failed to do much damage.

In the South China Sea, the great hunt for allied stragglers from Manila is in progress. AS Holland and 2 four-Stacks DD are sunk, while another DD is in serious trouble. 58 Allied ships sunk by now. Other victims are most AK so have little consequence or value.

In the sea off Kota Bahru, some RAF torpedo bombers attacked IJN bombardment TF. While Vildebeest failed to impress, swordfish from 4 AACU did penetrate enemy AAA defence and put 2 fishes into BB Nagato. Another Fubuki class destroyer was torpedoed by a Dutch SS. I forget her name, she perhaps already arrived Saigon safely.

In a small naval engagement between Luzon and Batan Islands, IJN Inazuma of Fubuki class was torpedoed by US. PT from Batan. She later finished by USS. S-36.

USS S-37 damaged in Batan Islands by IJN APD ASW group and is struggling back to Manila.

In Land, because Jap player use historical opening, so there is litte to talk about. An airborne assualt on Taiping failed. IJA 35th Brigade captured Gergoretown today. Mili and Burnei already overun. IJN SNLF captured Davao withoug resistance. Wake Island also falled to South Sea Detachment.

12,Dec, 1941: Japs advance in Luzon

Post by trollelite »

Jap carrier TF continues to hunt allied stragglers in south china sea. Imperial submaines join the foray, several small AK and AP are sunk. They are not very valuable. This loss, however, is unpleasant:[:@]

===================================================================

Day Air attack on TF at 36,56

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 9
D3A2 Val x 17
B5N2 Kate x 7

No Japanese losses

Allied Ships
AP President Madison, Bomb hits 12, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

BB Nagato already detached and presumably back to port. Mutsu and 7th Sentai (Mogamis) bombarded Kuantan. 5th Sentai (Myokos) appears in Davao area, Kongo and Haruna arrived at Kuching.

In the Land, allied is being pressed back into triangular main defence zone in Luzon. IJN advance guard arrived at Clark Field.

IJA send 2 divisions in Hongkong, the situation there is hopeless

==================================================================

Ground combat at Hong Kong

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 51813 troops, 284 guns, 7 vehicles, Assault Value = 1022

Defending force 16008 troops, 96 guns, 2 vehicles, Assault Value = 309

Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 3

Japanese max assault: 2232 - adjusted assault: 1136

Allied max defense: 311 - adjusted defense: 676

Japanese assault odds: 1 to 1 (fort level 3)

Japanese Assault reduces fortifications to 3

Japanese ground losses:
1792 casualties reported
Guns lost 28

Allied ground losses:
377 casualties reported
Guns lost 17

Now, after these easy victories, it seems Japanese become somewhat reckless, we would try to give them some good surprise....[;)]

Not too much thing to say today. SS K-XII is heavily damaged by IJN DD south of Saigon, I think she would make it back to singapore. In a surface action near San Fernando, we pay 3 PT to put a fish into IJN DD Yamagumo. She is reported heavily damaged and perhaps sink later.

A Japanese mixed brigade venture out of Ningpo. It perhaps only expects some mop action, instead, it is ambushed by chinese 49th corps and sent rolling back to Ningpo. Chinese continues their retreat to Changsha.

Ground combat at 51,40

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 9471 troops, 51 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 298

Defending force 6186 troops, 21 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 163

Allied max assault: 368 - adjusted assault: 236

Japanese max defense: 170 - adjusted defense: 41

Allied assault odds: 5 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
141 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

Allied ground losses:
287 casualties reported
Guns lost 6

We have assembled over 1000 AV troopers in Clark Field, IJA 48th Division and 65th Brigade and a tank regiment already arrived there. Tomorrow we make a shock attack. If they are defeated, we would then turn south to deal with IJA 16th Division.[;)]
