UI request and hotkey ideas

Post by Awac835 »

Excelent game Vic but found some stuff i think is missing in the UI/Hotkey department. Nothing game breaking but would be great to have and add polish.

-Supply layer ease of use.
Make it so that a left click will recalculate supply from the clicked point. Currently you have to toggle supply layer off then select another location and then toggle it back on again to get the recalculation from the new point.

- Turn screens and all other screens.
Turn screens should be mannaged by space and ESC key alike. For example ive just started my turn and gets presented with the summury of points score, production and kills. These screens should be closed with a press to space. Since there is only 1 option which is to move to the next page.

-Commiting attacks hotkey.
Currently space selects units for an attack. But also give us a attack hotkey for commiting the attack when we have selected the units we want. Possible use the A key again for all the different attakcs or maybe there own hotkey, like B for commiting a bombard attack and Z for a airstrike etc.

-Attack screens.
This is inline with the hotkey request for the turn summuary screens. Every single screen where you have only 1 option should be closeable with space or ESC. The attack summay screen should be closed by space. As of now we have to drag the mouse up to the top right cornor and click the red cros.

Thats all on my list for now.
Hope you will consider implementing some of it to make a great game even better. Ofc understand if stuff like this dont have first priority over bugs [:)]

ha ha actualy you had made the supply overlay and history and lots of other screen available through F1-F12 so i deleted that one. It just wasnt in the manual so haddent really tried it out. And it didnt say in the mouse over that they had a hotkey.

Shift+Space Select

Would it be possible to select a stack of units in a hex, and move/ attack en-masse?
(This is slightly different to the all button for attack).
as individual unit moves could become tedious on the larger scenarios.

Since I have something to say about the UI i think I will post it here...

Is anyone else bothered with that the map only is 45% of the UI with the bottom part of the screen offers no information when just scrolling around the map. My point is that a larger map view would in my opinion not hurt the game.

Great game anyway![:)]

Agreed. I posted a similar suggestion in another post. The map should have more room. There is often some place lost in the information panels. But obviously this is not not so easy to enhance... I suppose the lower panel could release some millimeters in height, mainly by putting the subformations list in a scrollable control. Making the right panel a hiddable one with a docking bar or some handle to recall it when needed (no so often in my case...) could also gain some place.

Another idea about hotkeys. Here is an error I make repeatedly : I select a unit and click on the M hotkey in order to see the highlighted hexes the unit can reach. I click once again on the M hotkey in order to switch back out of the move mode and the I click on another unit I want to examine. Of course, switching out of the move mode didn't work because the M hotkey does not work as a switch... Hence, well... you bet [8|]
My suggestion is to give the M hotkey (and maybe some other ones relative to layers) a switch behaviour. That's a classic tune on many interfaces (game or other software...), and I feel it intuitive. [:)]
