Can not perform air missions against USSR

Post by PzB74 »

For 8 days I've been trying to perform recon and ground attack missions against Soviet bases and ground
forces in Manchukuo after they entered the war 01.08.45.

Despite bad weather there have been dozens of opportunity to attack LCUs both in enemy bases, on the road and
in our bases. Red Air Force recon and ground strike missions are flown frequently against our bases and units.

I know it sometimes can be difficult to launch ground attack missions, but not on this scale.
The fact that not even recon missions can be performed makes me rather certain that something isn't working 100%

This is a 3 year old stock game.

Any ideas suggestions?
Can send a turn if anyone would like to look into it.

i'll try running it if you like - however, if something is "broke" not sure what i can do, unless it involves corruption of your EXE file. i suppose i could forward it to a programmer, but things are up in the air right due to... well, i can't go into that right now. [8|]

If you are getting the same results as your opponent in witp001.pws file, this would mean it is something wrong with the programming, not corruption of the EXE file (otherwise you would have sync issues).

If you ARE having sync issues, i would suggest reloading the game (or at least the EXE file).

Would appreciate it rtrapasso!
Not talked to Andy about it, but we haven't had sync problems before and all my ac have 0 fatigue and suffers
no losses. So I doubt they have flown.

What I need to know is if my fly boys stay home because they're so afraid of the big bad Red Bear, or if there's something
fundamentally wrong here [:'(]

If you'd like to have a look, send me PM with an email and I'll send you a turn w/pwds.

gmail will not allow an *.exe file, even in a zip file. rename it to *.txt and have Robert rename it after he gets it.

OK - i ran the witp.001 file under your special 1.801 version - it came out exactly the same.

SO - several possibilities exist -
a - WITP is messing up in general late in the game; or
b. 1.801 has a problem; or
c. 1.801 special has a problem; or
d. you are having a REALLY bad streak of luck...

i will run again under 1.804 to see what happens.

Well, apparently that EXE file is very special - none of the other versions will even load it. [:(]

So - i am at a loss what to do - i could ask the programmers to look at it, but i think they probably they wouldn't have time due to the upcoming "surprise".

Maybe the August 1st activation enables only the Soviet Union to attack, but not Japan? Perhaps if PzB activates the Soviet Union a second time by moving troops into Russia he will then be able to attack?

Is this the first Russian-Japanese war that started on August 1st?

I think you's need Andy to try to help you...ask him to send a couple of bombers to one of your Korean base and see if this opens up things for the Jap air units...however once it happened to me too not to be able to launch any air mission over there after the activation, but i really don't remember how i solved the problem[:(]

Appreciate the help rtrapasso!
I'm afraid something isn't as it should be.

Andy tells me that Soviet FLAK is so terrifying that it's hardly a loss - but I'd like to see that for my own.
500 level bombers should be able to suppress LCUs at least from 15k feet if casualties from 4-10k are too high.
Secondly, I get no recon intel from Soviet bases and the Red AF has been left alone.

Will ask Andy to bomb a Korean base to see if it helps Hoepner.

Guess we're beta testing again [;)]

I will try to bomb Japan may need to move a US Sqn in to do it as the Soviet AF has no range I will pick an out of way low level base and hit the port to avoid other reactions....I would also suggest you cross the border int he north where you are pursuing the Chinese unit

But shouldn't Japan be able to declare war (i.e. bomb) Russia at will? Or are we just talking about attacks on Russian units that have over the border here?

In my War in Russia Mod I faced the same problem, even having the Russians set to active from the beginning
and with surprise on, Japanese bombers wouldn´t attack soviet bases or LCUs. Someone suggested that the solution was that at least one Russian unit had to enter Japanese controlled area. I didn´t test it because in my case it was unpractical, but it may work in your case.

Well under the latest patch I know you don't need to do any of those things to attack Soviet bases.

In my game my opponent attacked multiple Soviet bases on Day 1.
John Dillworth: "I had GreyJoy check my spelling and he said it was fine."
Well, that's that settled then.

Andy has already occupied several Japanese Manchukuo bases and I'm marching into Soviet territory.
It was possible to land paras at Okha - but even the Allied ships near Vladivostok can not be spotted by our recons.

Not sure what this will mean for the continued fighting in Manchukuo.
