Game will not run

Post by gwnorth »

I have just purchased the game and all seemed to install normally. I allowed net framewrok 2.0 to load and noted no errors messages.

I launch the game and receive an error.

Microsoft.NET framework

Unhandled exception occurred in your application. If you click to continue the application will ignore this erros and attempt to continue. If you click quit the application will close immediately.

Font Arial does not support style "regular"

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Any help appreciated. As soon as I saw it required net framework to run I had reservations as I have had issues with NET framework in the past.

My Thanks I am anxious to give this a whirl.

Hi gwnorth,

I think this is the same error I got on my PC. All I did to fix it was reinstall Arial font from the XP CD and everything worked again.

Are you seeing lots of italic fonts displayed in your browser? This was the main symptom I saw, apart from the above error "Font Arial does not support style "regular"".

Hope that works.

Jim

Thanks Jim. I looked into my fonts folder and found Arial ttf was indeed installed. Reading other forums I found that a windows update had caused this same issue with other programs requiring an install of an older font on top.

This is whats odd. I switched my font size as they recommended and switched from clear type to normal and tried to delete the font in the windows fonts folder., It would not delete listed as in use. So i tried to launch the game anyways and it launched.

I then reloaded my orginal settings to normal font size and clear type using that same original arial type font and the game launched.

The issue is now resolved albeit for reasons unknown. Very odd but your advice pointed me in the right direction.
