North Africa Scenario

Post by JameyCribbs »

Am enjoying AT very much. Have had a couple of gos at the North Africa scenario as the British.

Concerning Tobruk. Is there a way to keep it in supply even if it is surrounded? I have even tried building a Makeshift Port there, but once the Axis cut it off from land supply it is no longer supplied. Shouldn't I be able to supply Tobruk via sea?

North africa scenario is designed as a strict land scenario. The assumption i made on assignment was that supply over sea was not possible. I did this partly for gameplay purposes to make it worthwile to cut the enemy off (there is coastline everywhere).

kind regards,

Could Tobruk be tweaked to have a very small innate supply source if occupied by the allies to represent sea supply, without creating a balance issue as far as adding sea transport abilities?

Thats a good idea, Erik.

One other thing I tried was I created a HQ and put it in Tobruk. I did this at the beginning of the scenario and then I set the HQ's requested supply to something like 500, thinking I could build up a stockpile before Tobruk was cut off. This appeared to help a little, but I couldn't build up a stockpile fast enough, before Tobruk was cut off.

That's a good idea too and should definitely help, but yeah the Axis can move pretty fast.

I really enjoyed this scenario, more so than any other WW2 North Africa scenario to date[X(]. It would be an awesome idea, in an advanced version scenario of NA, to let the Allies have sea supply and give the Axis the chance to counteract it with air power or by building/maintaining a fleet. IMO that would make one HELL of a scenario, fluid maneuver limited only by supply while the navy and airforces battle it out for supremacy.
Of course one would have to allow some ahistorical setup to make it balanced, we wouldn't want the whole royal navy vs. a drunk German sailor in a canoe with a board with a nail in it...."run away!!!! he's got a board with a nail in it!!! Ahhhhhh!!!!"[:D]
A man is rich in proportion to the number of things he can afford to let alone.
