Screen size (?) problem

Post by jdhalfrack »

Okay, I finally have the game (yay) and I installed it with no problems.

However, when I run the program, the main menu screen is like twice as wide as my screen is, so I can't chose any options or play the game. I've tried all my screen resolutions to see if it will fix anything, but it doesn't. Every resoultion always results in the main game menu being twice as big.

However, when I alt-tab out it appears normally for just a split second. Also, when I take a "screenshot" of it, it appears normal when I view the picture....

I tried to seacrh the forums for another case like this, but couldn't find one. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm probably missing something completely obvious.

A temporary fix may be to drop a text file in the games directory called

windowmode.txt

just make a text file named as above, no contents

it will make the game run in an 800X600 window

Wow, thanks Gary.  Didn't even know you could make it into window mode.  Game looks even better now.

Okay, excellent. That worked exactly as you said it would. I can now at least play the game [:)] Now, if that is not the permanent fix, can someone explain what is.

Thanks again Gary!

It's possible that the monitor is not adjusting itself properly to the new resolution.

I have a 19" BenQ flat screen and when I change resolutions, I sometimes have to press the "auto adjust" button so that it properly fits and centres things on the screen. Once it's in that resolution I generally don't need to adjust anymore going back and forth. But if the power goes out or something, I need to readjust my screen for the different resolutions again.

Are you running with multiple monitors?

It might also be the video card/driver combination you're using.
