I'm going to play a lvl7 EOS game as Japs.
As the economy is VERY important for the Japs even without playing RHS, I don't want to see no more production in april or may because of serious mistakes.
So what is important?
1. Does it make sense to enlarge some factories under 100 or will one run short in ressources then?
In general, never enlarge a factory at all. The only possible exceptions are aircraft engine and aircraft factories. Otherwise a place with really tiny values MIGHT be worth increasing. The cost is very high - in supply terms - and we have no way to simulate doing this properly. Japan essentially was cut off from importing machine tools - and could not do much of this IRL either.
2. What is more important - ressources or oil (to plan offensives it's good to know that)
OIL in caps. You have nearly enough resources - and will capture far more. But the main issue is MOVING the oil and resources where needed - not just capture.
3. Is there any plan or advice what planes to produce? Because of that various enigens, it will i.e. be very stupid to raise the monthly Me109 production to 250, when in late 42 or early 43 the factories change automatically to a plane with totally different engines...
In a stock game, I once tried to produce Ki-30 but it always changed it automatically to Ki-51. I'm expecting this to be the same here, right? When will production change? In the moment the new plane is available or later?
REPLY: Ki-30 and Ki-32 production had ended - and so the "upgrade" setting is used to help units have options. You cannot produce this aircraft (which is combined in RHS). And since IRL you could not either - that isn't too bad. You should NEVER produce 250 of any aircraft - and to try is distortion of this industry. A full production line makes 30 planes if single engine - 15 if two engine - 7 if four engine - and that is that. Beyond that, if you set line capacity too big - you get nice investment in useless plant - as the actual PRODUCTION will simply never go that high. Not enough HI points, engines, or apparently also supplies.
4. L2D2 or G5N?
ALL the transports have a job. The Ki-57 is better for paras - faster. The L2D2 is fine - but its great asset is its low cost vs G5N. G5N is great - but expensive. You DO have a better transport - the flying boat G8N2-L. And the LO is a better lifter than the Ki-57 - so don't poo poo it. It took the bulk of the assault to Palembang.
5. Should one try to rationalize the production? I guess yes, but how? In the beginning, the A6M2 is better than the Ki-43 and the Me 109. But when I change all fighterproduction to A6M2, I guess it'll shurely need some other eninges than the Ki-44 or later fighters with much better performance. So in this case it would be needed to change the total production for the cost of time and endless amounts of supplies...
REPLY: Planes have different jobs. The Me-109 is actually better as an interceptor, the A6M2 better as an escort and probably CAP, and both are carrier planes. The Ki-43 is better as a fighter bomber - and lets you upgrade to the superb Ki-43 II. Ramping up ALL gives you better numbers soon - which you need - and ramping up only one will actually give you fewer fighters in the field on a given date.
6. Should one stop the Shinano or even other ships?
REPLY: Absolutely. Not all these ships were finished. And many were suspended - including Shinano for six months. The more you do of this, the faster you will get ships you want. Don't do enough of it, ships will "hang" at 1 day out - and never complete. RHS gives you OPTIONS and CONTROL: you need to exercise it - or you will not be able to feed the economy well enough - and the AI then takes control of what ships you get.
7. Is there enough HI to feed all needs and to allow enlarging of AC production?
REPLY: Absolutely not.
8. What to do to have enough supplies?
REPLY: Do not expand things you do not critically need. And particularly do not expand WHERE you want supply points to go up.
9. Something different: What to do in China? It's yellow everywhere! How can I avoid to be thrown out very fast or at least to be cut off? There are not to many Japanese forces around...
REPLY: The key question of WITP. You get to figure it out. Some say Japan could never win. I tried hard not to let it win easily. RHS added mountains, lots of Chinese units, self feeding guerilla units, more plane upgrade options - and more plane types. If this problem cannot be solved, sue for peace, and there is no war!
10. How much garrison need 10 Industry? I am considering to enlarge some HI to produce more supplies where they're needed
REPLY: I do NOT understand the question. You should NEVER make HI - and if you do only in the first few days of the war. Supplies in vested in HI will only break even after three years - hardly worth it.
11. Where to unload ressources and oil? As all Islands seem to be conntected at least by ferries - is it enough to unload at Osaka? Where and how much is needed in Korea, Manchuria, Siam and Indochina?
REPLY: Turn on reveal codes. NOT all things are connected. And what is needed depends on what you have, what damage is, what is set to repair or not, how much is feeding, how connections by rail (or adjacent) ports exist, many factors. No possible universal answer here. Pay detail attention.
