GEN Patterson missing

Post by JustusII »

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but is GEN Patterson supposed to be in Cumberland at the start of the Coming Fury (July 61) scenario? According to the commanders.txt file in the scenario folder, he is listed with a 0 start date and a 200 chance (which is the same for all the other 'guaranteed' at start commanders, but when I load the scenario, he's not there. I did notice his ID is 1005, only one that early over 1000, so maybe there's a problem with that? (Not that I really need another pathetic 4-star clogging my ranks, but he was there historically).

Which version are you playing? I vaguely recall some problem when I first added some generals beyond #1000 but the code didn't know there were now more than 1000 generals, but that's been solved, and I've seen Patterson with my own eyes. But if you're playing the beta patch we might have a problem.

Not the beta patch, playing v1.9.23

Also, I saw some posts earlier where it talked about nesting the generals at the beginning of the scenario, but they start out in the provinces, not in armies. This is the Coming Fury July 1861 secenario (not the balanced one, the normal one).

When you get the new patch you'll see the difference: generals like Patterson who were commanding a force start off already in command of that force. The great thing about this is not just the accurate OOB, but also that it saves several minutes of doing nothing but assigning generals, which can get tedious when you're playing with the "more generals" setting. Now, much of that work will be done for you by the nesting files.
