Computer Crash

Post by dneely »

My MB died on Sat and I have a new computer that I purchased cheap from a friend.

My question is I went to the DL link to get the 1.70 version of the game so I can get PureSim back on this machine but I keep getting an error message saying the file is not found??

Can anyone help or explain why its saying the file is not on this server??

Thanks, DNeely

Ok I solved the DL problem with the complete version but now I have another question.

Do I need to use all the various fixes since 1.70 came out or will the last "hot-fix" get my game completely up to date??

Help is appreciated.

I figured it out by reading.....duh!

Sorry to have bothered everyone but I am still bummed by the computer crash that started all this, so a lack of patience I guess.

Yea, computer crashes are a bummer. For what its worth I use a disk imaging backup program called Acronis True Image. Its amazing, backs up my computer every night and even after a total crash I pop in the rescue boot CD it creates and it re-images the drive and I am back with the exact configuration within minutes. Its amazing, and worth every penny. I actually already had to use it once and it was a life-saver.

I think I'd be suicidal if I lost the PureSim source code!

Hope you didn't lose anything important.

I'm having annoying issues, too.  My main computer went down and it's starting to look like it's the motherboard. Ugh.  I've tested every other piece of hardware in it but am still getting BSODs. I might as well just buy a new system instead of shelling out a couple hundred bucks for a new/used/refurbished motherboard.

dllonsdale,

Do a search of the forums for Vista. There are a couple of little things you need to do, but it is more than do-able. I run the game on Vista just fine as do many other Puresimmians, so it's not hopeless.

Make sure you run PureSim as "Administrator" that's the only tweak needed. I have been developing PureSim on a Vista machine since it was released (Vista), so rest assured you'll be fine.

I posted some info here as well
