Never saw a list?
Smoke, by either artillery, direct fire, infantry.
Withdraw in Reaction phase.
Any hits on tank auto button up the AFV.
Toggle key for ID Icons on/off
Togel key for various target/movement rubberbands for individual unit, entire platoon. all your units.
A slew of scenario design features, like reinforcements.

Those are all that I can remember off-hand. Its been a while since I played WS so I take all the new Kharkov features as the norm.

There is a large list that Erik probably can or has supplied.

The last thread that started mentioning new features got off into the weeds about what shoulda, coulda be new features way beyond the bounds of a sequal.

The infantry system is more robust and infantry put up a good fight. In concert the new trenches and foxholes not only help them survive fire but make them harder to see. Gun pits also keep AT-guns hidden to a great extent.

Yes, in a way. You can edit some of the tables to compress the scale. Everything will work the same but the ranges for sighting, hitting, etc will drop off faster than they do now.
Say a weapon penetrates 8 cm at 1200m. You change the table to penetrate 8 at 600. Also, double the to-hit numbers at the various range bands. You also have to compress the sighting table to halve the factors for the range bands. In effect your ranges have doubled. You don't get to actually see '1200m' in the display however. It will still read '600m' even though all the values are set for 1200m.

Oh, you have to halve the tanks speeds too.

The thing is PCOWS actually is 1:2000 scale. It was done inadvertently. The map was the effect of a 2000mx2000m area. Kharkov readjusts this back toward true scale somewhat.

ok, now I am confused, is the map 1000 meter or 2000 meter square? I think a map with a distance limit of 1000 meter is silly in a ww2 armor game, Especially in an eastern front battle where a great deal of stand off German anti tank guns hit at 2000 meters plus?

It's 1000m square. Just that you can edit the xml files so that it feels like 2000x2000 by halving all the ranges in the tables. It would be a lot of work and could cause problems but theorically possible.
In this time period the effective ranges of the weapons outside the 88mm aren't that great that you need a 2000m x 2000m battlefield.

Most engagements occurred at <1000m due to terrain, hence the current map size. We find that it works well, though we'd certainly like to go to 2000m+ in the future. Right now, you can model that on the existing maps only by changing the data.

thanks erik,

I know I am getting a discount due to my previous purchase.. but that really plays so little into my thoughts as I would rather pay more for quality, as I have limited myself to this and tow.. maybe the napoleanic war game.. but I already passed on Ageods... and I loved their previous stuff, I remember back awhile ago, 90s? pc games slid back from greatness.. now it seems we again have LOTS to choose from..
THANKS !
