A major minor update for RHS

Post by el cid again »

As you know - I firmly decided to suspend development - and in particular not to update Levels 5 and 6 any more.

I knew there would be eratta - there must be - information theory says there will ALWAYS be - so we just have to live with it if we ever are to do any long term work. Nevertheless, USS South Dakota having no rear turret is a problem for me. And I now discovered the IJA has A Type divisions all over the place (they were confined to Manchukuo - with the single exception of the 5th - and it is not documented as A type anywhere in English - I just found out about it a year ago). So I wanted to fix that - and divisions with the wrong kind of arty or recon. Along the way I figured out how to tell players what a division has in it. This is easy to say - but tons of work - particularly if retrofitted - and it is retrofitted.

To this add I figured out (unexpectedly) how to do barrage balloons. So a few to experiment with are added. [Naval ones to US LSMs and land ones to Japanese air defense brigades and divisions so far] I found device duplication so I could add devices - looking to add balloons - two kinds (land and sea) - I was also able to add 105mm Howitzers for IJA - a rare place to ever get another device.

None of this is game critical - but it is turning out to be both to be a lot of work and should significantly alter play. You won't be fighting A divisions in Burma - or wherever - UNLESS Japan moves them there! And the pack divisions now will be expensive to move and feed - and the reason the smaller divisions were popular for amphib offensives (e.g. the three 6 battalion divisions) will be more apparent. On the other hand, the value of the massive squad count divisions in China will show why there were so many there.
