PBEM cheat

Post by stevesparks »

I made a couple random scenarios, set up as 2 player like for pbem, password anti cheat on.
To make it simple went into edit and added 100 staff to one side.
Saved e-mailed to myself.
Opened file and no indication other side had 100 extra staff points.

Did I miss some warning or something... can this be used as exploit??

Yes it can, but it is not a cheat as such since it is done in setting up the scenario.

If you want to avoid this you'll have to play random games with shroud on. (that will prevent setting up player of going into the editor)

Mhh, seems to turn shroud on is a good idea.
For my actual random game i also entered the editor, but only to change the regime names to player names
and not to "tweak" one of the regimes.

Is there a way to let the second player now that the original file was modified at least
(when shroud is not activated) ?

It seems the way to play is with shroud peak on, you can see terrain so you don't have to explore.
You cannot see what oppsing player is building...like roads.
