Map Placement Button - editor

Post by Unhappy »

Using the new Beta I'm having a problem in the editor - it locks up if I try to use the map placement button to establish the location of task groups or submarines etc (vs. just inputting the coordinates). Anyone else having this problem? Thanks.

I have the same problem if I hit the top map button in the sub placement. CAW freezes.
Hitting the one underneath brings up the map OK.

If its any help I tried this for sub and taskforce placement in several scenarios using the beta patch, there was a delay of several seconds but the map loaded fine.

This problem has been with us for the last couple of builds and was very hard to track down - i couldnt reproduce it on any debugger, and as it wasnt crashing, i couldnt use a crash report to track it down. I've tracked it down to an uninitialized variable that was reading in the value from a random memory location - sometimes the location contained an invalid value (which caused a hang), and sometimes not.
This fix will be in the v1.02 final patch.

Regards
Alex

P.S. I have spun my "Programmer Wheel Of Blame" and apparently it was Gregors fault. [:)]

I've got the authentic "Programmer Wheel of Blame", and by force of logic and the experience of history, every entry on the Wheel reads "Programmer", just as it should.

This weekend I had the same problem when opening a scenario and clicking on the forecast button.  But if I click on something else that loads the map like taskforce or sub placement then I can click on the forecast button and it brings up the forecast screen.
