New ships in AE

Post by Cavalry Corp »

Just to waste some time

Who knows what extra kind of units planes and Ships we will see in the AE ?
I saw midget subs and a few other bits but not much . I hope mainly that the options on building will be much enhanced.

Also better graphics has been mentioned but from the screen shots it all looks the same to me . I do hope they will be bigger . Would be nice to have a better combat animations screen with a proper picture of the ship so you may in fact need to watch them ?

Maybe the screen should show the ship from above with the bombs dropping and torps running !!

FYI, you should post questions like this in the "naval" thread in the "Scenario design" sub-forum. There are several threads there designated specifically for AE questions.

Anyway, I don't think Matrix has said we'll see fancy new 3D graphics in the combat animations. Instead, I think they're updating the ship and plane art. That alone is a big change! As for ships, they haven't given us a comprehensive list, but lots of new stuff appears to be in -- not just midget subs.

There is a rumor they are incorporating the Flores Island Hobbits (see Mandrake's AAR) as they would be ideal crews for the midget subs! [X(] [:'(]

They'd also make pretty good sneaks....er, I mean scouts.

Actually, that depends..Most hobbits are very reluctant to leave the shire,(in this case, Flores Islands), and using them as "scouts" may be an exercise in futility..??

What would be the supply cost of a hobbit unit. They eat six times a day. Would their movement rate be slower do to shorter legs? I realize this will not affect miget crews but once you allow them into one banch of the service, they will be asking to be allowed in all banches of the service.

Ah, but if I am not mistaken, they do not need boots, saving you quite a bit of transport space for other necessities. Then of course there is the whole issue of being able to out of the airplane cockpits, after all, you'd certainly get some volunteers for the air service. [:D]

It is widely believed disinformation that the hobbits piloted the midget submarines. In fact, their feet were too big to fit on the pedals.

Was it that their feet were too big, or just too proud?

Besides, the odor from unbooted feet in such a small area could be overpowering. It would become a safety issue to other sailors on the midget submarine.

Hobbits pad around in bare feet, so there will be little to no foot odor.

Doesn't that kinda depend on what they've stepped in?

Well... if there's anything like that to step into inside the midget subs, you're not going to be noticing how their feet smell... [;)]
