Actually, a seriuos question (for once).  Why would anyone pre-order software?  Do you get a significant price break?  I mean it's just bits and last I heard that was not a scarce resource. [&:]

I don't get it either. I know Matrix has tried it, resulting in nothing but whining and moaning when the pre-ordering people didn't get their games "on time" (read: because it wasn't released).

I know some boardgame publishers have an "If-X-People-Preorder-We'll-Make-This-Game" policy, but other than that...

thanks for the reply. I can see it being a nice measure of pent-up demand...but then i think the forum is good for that.
