Unable to load scenario Error (solved)

Hi all.

One of our players is getting a problem trying to load the gamestart.pbm file. He gets this error and following the next:

"Wargame System Engine Did not find the DEF file!
Please contact technical support fpr mot details!
Wargame System Engine version 1.00 (FULL)
Copyright 2005 Outflank Strategy Wargame"

Can you tell me where can be the problem? We have sent him the pbm file twice on a Yahoo email address.

Try starting the game by dbl-clicking directly on the EiANW.EXE file in the main directory. It sounds as if a the path may be a off???

We tried that with no luck, we have uninstalled the game and installed again in c:\eia and we got the same error.

Our player is going to install the file he downloaded from Matrix to try to repeat the error in another machine he has, we'll see if he gets the same error. If the error is the same then I assume is something related with the downloaded file.

We sent him another .pbm file to check that the error was not related to the pbm file and the error is the same also.

The error has been reproduced in another PC using a fresh install and the same EiA setup file.
We'll try to use another file downloaded from Matrix servers.

Hi again.

Tried everything: fresh install on another PC, setup file downloaded again from Matrix, everything fails. Can you point us to any direction?

The program crashes just after our player click on "New Game" and then "Load email game" and then enters his email address. The game exits after the error said before.

Any other suggestions?

Could you screen print your game directory and post?
I would like to see what files are in the root game dir (Where the EiANW.EXE file is located) and a file list in the DATA directory?

Marshall it has been solved, we tried everything but the error was just stupid on our side, our player loaded the turn from another folder (not the "commin" one)

As this error seems that can be done by many people it would be nice to not allow loading email files from another folders.

Thanks in any case Marshall, I guess my group of players is not very used to that kind of games (but we played a lot EiA in the past) and as far as know we are pretty happy with your implementation.

I see your point about the dir changing. Might be a good idea to change that!
