Bidding?

Post by joviel »

Er, is this covered in the manual anywhere? I can't find it and I am expected to submit my bids in a PBEM game.

Thanks,

Download the GAP (Game Assistant Program) that is in the stickied area above and run that program and then send the saved bid file to whomever is hosting the game...IF that's what everyone is doing for the bidding.

Thanks, but what is not understood is what the bids translate to. High means what? Low means what? Do I rate them 7 to 1 in order of preference, but if so where do these bids of "25 for France" I hear of come into play? What seems intuitive to you who have played the board game is less so to others of us. [&o]

Thanks,

Scott

You can bid up to 30 points on a country using GAP.  You cannot double up the same bid on any 2 countries, so only 1 can be 30, one 29, 28, etc.  However, you can bid from 1 to 30, so NEVER overbid for turkey.  When you bid on a country, the amount you bid is added to the number of victory points needed to win  the game.  So, in the case of France, they normally need 400 points, however, say you bid 25 points and you end up winning the bid of France.  You would then need 425 points to win the game.

Hope this helps.

You are bidding extra victory points that you will need to earn to win so the higher the bid, the harder it is to win. Whomever bids the highest gets the country, ties are solved randomly. All British bids are compared first and a Britain is picked, then everyone elses bids are compared and a France is picked, then Russia, Austria, Prussia, Spain and the last person gets Turkey. Look here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1641790 if you want an idea of how bidding has been going so far.
