Supplying other powers' stacks witn your depots
In the EiA board game it's possible for (for example) Prussia to use one of its depots, and money, if there is a Russian stack nearby in order to supply it. Can this be done in the computer game?
If not then nations will need many more depots, as otherwise it's impossible to get Russian troops to the French border, or vice-versa.

Well unless winter, run via ports and depot from the one closest to Where u are. And depot in Skt. Petersburg.
But agreed, you lack the ability to have allies pay for supply, unless you lend them the unit.

Del,
Using the loan corps function is the only way to pay for your ally’s supply in EiANW.

That needs to change
Adding the ability to loan money to an ally for the express purpose of supplying your army is a must.
This is something that helps keep the alliance together. If the Prussians refused to supply my troops when I was there protecting their arses from the French, I'd turn the boys around and go home.

You can loan money to an ally.
I think what Richard is saying is that you could not use a Prussian depot to supply Austrian troops without using the loaned corps function.
The loaned corps function should help acomplish this by allowing Austrian forces to go under control of the Prussian player thus using Prussian depots for supply.

How about I answer it this way. You can loan money AND corps in EiANW. Better?

Correct, that's what I was saying . . . .

Sorry guys, I understood what you were saying, I guess I didn't express myself well enough.
Let me ask it like this.
Why can't it be done that we can loan money to an ally specifically for the purpose of supplying any of our corps within reach of their supply depot?
Yes I undersand you can loan money and corps to an ally, that, however, is not always feasible.
Having the ability to put money into an allies kitty that we can have access to at a later date for supply purposes (without the need to loan our corps to them in order to have them supplied) would be very helpful.

It might be a little problematic to monitor how another MP spends loaned money. It would mandate the opening of a "savings account" mandated for specific use. I can see some control issues here.
Curious, why does the loaned corps not work?

RE: Supplying other powers' stacks witn your depots
Sheepishly, I haven't tried loaning a corps to another MP simply because I haven't been in a situation to loan a corps, but if I understand the process correctly, you lose control over a loaned corps.
Is this not correct?

You do, for the month that you chose to loan it.ORIGINAL: Leatherneck_MT

The big problem with the way the computer game does it comes down to two problem:
First, wars are fought at the end of the supply chain. There's usually only one of them
Second, supply allows corps to have their FOOD paid for, but what about factors? Unless BOTH members of a combined force have valid supply chains to within 1 space of the main army, it is impossible to add factors to the army.
One tactic that all players should use is to have guard factors ready for reinforcement within a couple months of the start of a war. Typically, I assess the board and try to ascertain whether I will at war within the next 6 months. If so, I buy a guard unit, even though the guard corps is full. This allows me to commit the guard without having to worry about depleting their numbers dramatically. Even if I don't predict the losses correctly, certainly after the start of a war, I would build the factors to replace what I have already lost. The problem is that I then have to be within one space of MY depot in order to add the factors in when the time comes. However, if my partner is doing the same thing (and he SHOULD be), we both have to be within one space of our own depots. But, that means having two depots immediately behind the main army, and protection for both.
I'm not sure how one can correct for this change.

This applied to the board game too. you could only add factors to YOUR supply chain, not an allies. Outside of the physical movement of your corps being handled by your ally instead of you, lending the corp has the same effect as combined move did in the board game. The only thing that you could do in the board game that you cannot do here is Naval combined move (lending) which I agree, should be allowed.

RE: Supplying other powers' stacks witn your depots
The loaned corps function doesn't really work when one of your allies is AI.
If you loan corps to an AI ally, the AI ally won't do anything useful with the corps that you have loaned.
Also, when Prussia, I want a big stack of Russian corps defending my border. I can't convince my AI ally Russia to loan me more than one corps at a time (I get told that it will cost me PP even to ask).
Srsly, it needs to be the case that any ally can pay for any other ally's supply using their own depots, and without having to loan the corps. It's possible in the board game, why not in the computer game?

Forget I said anything, guys. I lost my mind for a moment there. Let me know if any of you find it.

RE: Supplying other powers' stacks witn your depots
There is major difference between surrendering the control of one or many corps to another power(AI or player) and having a combined movement options, that allows you to move in the same phase, and therefore fight in the same phase. Espcially is the ally is the AI.... as you never know what the AI will do I assume.
Paying for the supply of another power is a major part of the game, and once again surrendering the control of the Corps in order to accomplish that is first: not fun, as you loose control of your units, and makes you at the mercy of the other power regarding both movement and combat as well as supply.
It seems to me that one should have the possibility to pay for the supply of another player, or for a player to ask another to have supply paid.

So you would rather have your ally set up some corps on the edge of your depot range and drain your $$$? You can ask your AI allies to loan YOU corps - nothing says you have to give them corps. The way it is done in EiANW and the way it was in the board game net out to the same result, just different ways of doing it. A lot of you doing the 'I give them $$$ for supply' are forgetting that even in the board game that $$$ did not arrive until the next econ phase. Not to mention the fact that you could not reinforce your corps off an allied supply line so you had to run one of your own part, if not most, of the way to your destination.

When corps are loaned, do they magically appear somewhere? Do I have to ask every month? Do I have to go get them, or march mine to my ally?
Very curious.
