City attack results-something new.

Post by hbrsvl »

Something has happened in the scoring of VPs that I'd like explained, if possible.

Background-I started city attacks on Nagasaki on 12/25/43, on HI. At the beginning the HI points were at 600. (o)x600. Following table shows results of further attacks. These are from the city attack screen for Nagasaki from various units engaged in attacks.

Result of attack on HI at Nagasaki on:
12/25-(296)x304
12/26-(330)x270
12/28-(345(x255
12/29-(400)x200
12/30-(399)x201

Please note that for all these days the(#s) plus #s=600.

Now see results of 12/31 attack:
12/31-(447)x123=570

12/31 #s confirmed from all bases participating.

Question: What happened to the 30 HI points? Have those 30 points been destroyed?

I'm going offline now to research how the VP ratios were on these days. VP ratio=
Allied points/Japanese points. Example: 300AP/150JP=2.00 ratio.

Later, Hugh Browne

Looks like they have been destroyed... i'd keep checking, though.

Note - these are just victory points received from recent actions... you also get VPs for holding bases (the points vary by the supply status).

So, even if you are outscoring the Japanese 2 to 1 by bombing, you might not have a 2:1 ratio overall due to the bases being held.

For instance, if you both have 1000 victory points worth of bases, and you get 200 vp for bombing the Japanese factories, but the Japanese get 100 vp for actions they do, then the ratio of vp is actually 1200 to 1100, or about 1:1.

The nice thing about destroying units, ships or planes is that these points should be permanent... you can't lose points like you can if you lose a base.
