AE and existing WITP

Post by Cavalry Corp »

AE sounds great - no problem

Will some of the enhancements be applied to the existing WITP as well as I have long running PBEM games that I would like to continue but have already seen that the AE system is going to correct so many things that you get an itch to start thinking that the old witp base game may not be worth playing .

I posted a similar thought last week and was told no. You will still have WITP installed and be able to play it, if you install the AE, but none of the changes will carry over.

I know the AE team quite rightly keeps pointing out that they only have a finite amount of time and have to make difficult decisions about what to add in or leave out, but I still think it might be worthwhile for Matrix to consider, at some point, putting some of the improvements of AE into the original version as a patch - if you have purchased AE.

With the jump from 60nm down to 40nm hexes, the game is going to play differently and it may be that some prefer the 60nm scale.

I prefer them be separate, one may wish play WITP as it is , with Browns map, etc and
having your Witp setup changed would prevent one from playing pbem games with witp only users.

Also trying change greatly anything in witp like hex sides etc would likely just create a bug mess in witp.

Noise? What Noise? It's sooooo quiet and Peaceful!

It has been posted somewhere that you will be able to play either game, AE will not preclude you from playing the orginal. Also, there is to be a patch 1.807 for the orginal, separate form AE. I expect it to mostly address bugs.

That is good news - and my understanding as well.

There are other possibilties - I am just not sure anyone will bother with them - if AE is as good at it seems like it may be?

With all the improvements/changes that we have seen that will be in AE it must take a lot to please you. I believe the team will be rewarded by the pleasure us players get from their efforts.

Will everyone be happy, or course not. But such is life...
