Odd AI gambit -- artillery attack

Post by Grognot »

A large Prussian stack sitting on Moscow was attacked by a single corps -- an artillery corps.

It's legal, I think, but considering that they automatically break in a single round of combat, with a decent chance of a pursuit class of 5 or 6 while inflicting very few casualties... this is not likely to achieve a meaningful result unless one is attempting to kill single Spanish guerrilla (and there are no enemy corps within range to take on the now-revealed lone artillery corps).

It might have been decided that they were dead anyway (perhaps true -- there were almost no surviving Russian corps at the time, other than three (IIRC) at Sevastapol), but even in that case, it probably would have been better to be on defense, picking Withdraw, and in the meantime to force me to extend my supply lines if I wanted to chase a single fleeing corps.

That darn bug had been reported during beta but in light of more serious problems it was forgotten. I’ll resubmit it but in light of the of more serious problems . . . . [:)]
