how to use freikorps?

Empires in Arms is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. Empires in Arms is a seven player game of grand strategy set during the Napoleonic period of 1805-1815. The unit scale is corps level with full diplomatic options

how to use freikorps?

Post by ndrose »

OK, so the Austrian freikorps can only be put at Vienna, and only during an economic phase. But unlike cossacks, it apparently starts out empty. Since cavalry reinforcements can only be placed in a reinforcement phase (and not even in an economic month), there's never anything to put in them.

The only thing I can see to do is to have a corps with cavalry already in it at Vienna, and transfer a factor. (If you can even transfer during an economic phase, which I'm not sure about.)

Is there something I'm missing?

A Austrian

a freikorp is a 1 factor cav; just like a cossack; cannot be placed before march 1809
the insurrection corps[2] are different

read 13.2.2 for freikorp's
13.2.4 for Austrian insurrection corps.

Can someone comment on Nathan's old post here on Freikorps.

I am a bit surprised that the Austrian FreiKorps shows up empty in version 1.03.14 Is this an error or not?

Thanks

It's an error, but it may have been fixed already. (I haven't tried it yet in 1.04.)

In 1.03, you can get the freikorps to work, but the placement is not how it's supposed to be. You have to place them in the reinforcement phase like other forces. I can't remember whether you have to click on them to "purchase" them during the preceding econ. phase. You may.
