Big or Small Airgroups

Post by ILCK »

Is there any edge to having 1 group of 22 fighters or 2 of 11 - aside from the flexibility issue?

Will those small early game AG's get "fleshed out" as the game goes along so they become full sized units?

All AGs have a maximum size listed.  If they get divided they try to automatically reunite.  Having 2 smaller groups does give more flexibility than 1 larger one.  Advantages and disadvantages go both ways.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

Depends on your personal preferences I'd say.

If I have two AGs at half their maximum strength, I usually disband one to max out the other.

But, as stated before, it's personal preference IMHO

I usually do this if the replacement pool is depleted and especially if it is depleted and has a very low rate of replenishment.

An a/g of 11 fighters could come in handy as a fifth slot in an understrength CV where 22 planes would put you over the 10% rule, turning the carrier into a ferry.
