More Explainations

Post by ILCK »

1. I've taken Lunga, pushed the Japs out to Tassafarong. I drive a Marine Regiment and a few other units out there. Thing is my assault values are zero when I arrive and still are 2 months after the fact except on my armored unit . These units aren't fatigued and do have supplies. How do I get them combat worthy again?

2. What is the best way to push supplies to the overland (Wau) based on PNG? In PacWar as I recall if you forced enough supplies into one point it would "leak" out to adjacent based. I don't see this happening in UCV.

3. Refuelling. I sent my carriers out to do battle. They linger hammering IJN surface forces before retiring. Some have "red" endurance levels. Thing is that after weeks in port those values are still red and still have exactly the same value.

1  Units need to rest to recover from combat that causes loses, fatigue and disruption.  Many bases are subject to malaria also, so if the base isn't in a good supply state and built to a level 5 troops will suffer.  Units also need adequate support.
2  Supplies overland to Wau are not something that can support large bodies of troops as the road is a trail and supplies move slowly, are consumed on the trip and spoil.  Maybe flying C-47s with supplies is your ticket there.
3  So I have to ask if the port has fuel there and if so enough to refuel the ships?  If there are adequate stocks of fuel then did you click the button to refuel your TF from port before disbanding it?  Ships won't refuel unless you order it so what you should do is always refuel your ships before disbanding the TF.  This way when you form a new TF your ships are fueled and ready to go instead of needing to use op points to refuel and then move.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

You can also refuel the small ships from the large ones at sea to be able to stay out longer, as well as set up a tanker/oiler Replenishment TF to tag along with to refuel the entire combat task force.

He had run the fuel levels of the TF pretty low so refueling at sea sounds like he needed another TF in the hex, optimally a replenishment one.

I didn't tell my ships to refuel from port is the answer (it was at Noumea so there is plenty of fuel). I thought the ships would automaticallyrefuel if you disbanded the TF and left them in port.
