Swap Sides?

Post by ILCK »

I just realized I can change sides during a scenario. It was interesting to see what I was up against (if a bit unfair).

Just wondering if it make might the AI game more challenging if I started out the first few months as the Japanese to get them off to a better/more aggressive start and then swap back to the USA to undo my handiwork? Anyone tried this stunt?

You might totally confuse the AI as it is programmed to do certain things for certain places.  I think that you should set the AI to hard at the start of a game for more of a challenge and when you can beat it with no peeking try a PBEM and really get to play the game.  Many of us think that the AI is a training tool.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

OK, that makes sense since in the few starts I've had it looks like the AI does the exact same thing over and over.

It's scripted to make the scenario historical, but not everything is reproduced exactly, i.e., surface combat incorporates dice rolls.

I thought the same thing. In my third start of the campaign (#17) I had all my assets in place to strike at the expected move on Gili Gili and the AI completely surprised me by going all out for Lunga & Tulagi as it's first move instead of Gili Gili and Buna. Now I place my carrier group midway between the two so it can strike in either direction.
