base forces - Aviation Support deterioration

Post by RGIJN »

after some time on station on forward bases other than Truk all japanese Base Force units suffer from the usual fatigue/disruption as any other units. So far so bad.[:@] They also suffer from kinda deterioration of their aviation support value. Even shipped back to Truk and rested well, they will not gain their original strenght (40 e.g.). [&o]
Is there any way to either stop that process at the forward base or to get them back on their original AS value??? [&:]

TIA,
Ralf

I don't know the answer, but it may be part of the historical model of the campaign.  The japanese never were able to crack the malaria nut (nor for that matter were the Allies) which exacebated the problem of a shortage of trained aircraft maintenance personnel and parts.  The game may be replicating the long, slow slide in the Japanese ability to keep their aircraft in the air.

Yes. And it is beginning to cause me problems in one campaign. Of course, by late 43' I won't have many planes to worry about. If I don't sink most of his transports in his first attempts to establish a beachhead in the Solomons and New Guinea, I will lose. He will eventually be able to pound my airforce into dust...

I don´t think so. I think 75% is the best you can do...

As Wirraway said though, as the Japanese, later in the game you won´t need so many anyways. [:D]
