Best way to creat a League, Team & Players?

Sorry for the questions, I'm still waiting for the manual and am learning as I go. Which is the best way to start creating a League, teams and players. I have tinkered with the built in Editor that comes w/ 2.0 and seems fairly easy to use. For example: I want to create an NFL League with AFC/NFC conference with all divisions and then start the players, etc. What is the best way to start doing this? Any help greatly appreciated.

Well if you want you can start the game and under play I belive its says manual. Click on that and you can get an APDF manual that you can use until you get your hard copy. You can also get the manual up by selecting it from the Manuals folder on the hard drive in the MatrixGames\MaximumFootball folder.

Ok or you can go to screen after you click play. You`ll see league game - click that . You`ll see screen pop up - click New League. Another screen pops up asking name of league, weeks and rules. Set league the way you want .

After that go back to previous screen. There, click on Create Team. Another screen will pop up; do all info on Patriots. Then you go and Create Team for each. AFTER You get all teams done, on your league's main screen, click Change View until you see League Structure. There you can make divisions and conferences, and just move teams into right areas.

Now you can do a couple different things. The first would be to hit New Season, and it will take you to a draft where it will fill your teams up. Then after that it take you throught to training camp, which doesn't take long then after the season is ready.

This back tracking a bit, but I find its better to go slow. When you fill out the team information, pick out playbooks you like and team profiles for use in the draft. Also, I think it's easier after each team is created, look up your game on hard drive and, and find league you created. Put uniforms in each team's folder in the league folder. Just copy and paste them from another league or from uniforms you may have downloaded. I believe all uniforms are at fbmax.com. On that website look under NFL uniforms if you want to do an NFL style league. Also look under unsorted files, there are uniforms there too.

Now you can edit players on teams by using game utility screen at the stats, or use max FB DATABASE EDITOR v 1.5. I usually use the game editor, but I'm starting to get the hang of using JD's database editor.

Well, I hope this helps you out a little. I know its confussing at first, but like I said, check out the manual at start of game. That will help some. There are also many great community members here to help answer questions. I was in your boat one time too, and I still ask questions 2 yrs later.

One last IMPORTANT THING: on your league screen, never hit reset. If you do, you'll wipe out all your league games info and rosters. You'll just have all your teams left. I have done that a couple of times. Ouch!

I just bought this game and I have been following your instructions as to how to get everything going however, I'm in a problem step. I had entered one college league (with teams only, no roster or schedule) and was in the process of entering two pro leagues when my problem surfaced.

I had just finished entering all of the teams in one pro league. Next, I attempted to make divisions & conferences. After creating these, all of my pro teams that I had entered, all disappeared from the list. Somehow I am able to get to the front page of the 2nd pro league, which I had not entered any teams yet. When I exit the game & enter back into it, my college league & the one pro league (which had all the teams entered in to it) are not shown for me to select to be able to access.

I can see the league folders with all of the teams still in the folders when I use windows explorer.

Any Idea as to what is going on?

Something that might help this process going forward is some changes I've made to the remote in process for v2.2
 
Version 2.2 will allow you to import a team from a remote out file that was generated from another league. This only works if the season hasn't started yet (otherwise you get an error saying you can't import the file). This should hopefully allow people to share teams/rosters/depthcharts as well as quickly create new leagues by importing teams from existing leagues.

trottle8 , not sure if this is an answer for you about that poblem . I noticed a couple times in past where when i went to create divisions and such , i did`nt see teams either . Check this out on the game sscreen when you go to click play and it shows league you want .Look for where it says change view, click to you see league structure . You might see teams then or have to click on where it says leagues or divisions . Not sure if they might be there or not. Been a while since i set a league up . So not sure if the patches have changed things . Hopefully that will help .

Two of my three leagues are not shown anymore to be able to select. The only league name that shows up for me to select is the league that I had not entered any teams in it; all I had done was create the league & named it. My college league had at least 12 teams in it and my other pro team league had 25 teams. The only way I can "see" them is by using windows explorer.

wow thats a real problem , never had any league i had do all that . Might ask Mr Winters or a moderator about whats going on . Probally something very simple and they might have correct answer . Wish i knew more technical stuff to give you a better answer . In almost 2 years goofing with game never completed aseason , , been just creating lots of uniforms and other small graphic stuff with help from others .

You may try toggling the Divisions button to see if that might pop 'em up.

DON..What is preventing you from finishing seasons? There should be nothing in 2.1 that prevents you from playing out full seasons.

Not to speak for DON, but that's the way I understood it, too. The game is so fun to customize, you sometimes forget to actually play/sim the games.

Dave no real problem with finishing leagues , but a few times i`ll have the window mode of league up . Have several other windows open , start messing around and i click reset and it resets the league . Since i`m a perfectioness , i then have to redo names and weights . Plus i also try to make to much customization in my leagues . My own fault i`m afried to say . By the way i`ll be posting shots of grambling and other black college uniforms this weekend on here . I took the black arms for players turned sideways to make black skin for the uniforms i made for those schools so far it looks good . Hopefully one of these days i`ll get that league playing. Dave , by the way i love how the game plays now with my better video card . The hits the , fumble recoveries everything looks great Even all customised stadiums look so much better .
