Do you know that it's to do with printed manual issues?

I think I'll buy this one, but DD is my option for it

Forget it...just seen Eriks post in this thread tm.asp?m=1703975

Strange, 'cos I thought they released the DD version when it was ready and posted when boxed copies were available...that's the way it used to work and I liked it.

I think I read the Matrix has a new policy where they only release games that has boxed and on line version ready at once.

Well, that truly is bad news. I always liked the fact that if I wanted the dd version, I could get it when it's ready, instead of waiting the 2+ weeks for the physical copy.

Sometimes I would like a manual, sometimes I don't...depends on the game. I never saw the reason for making people wait for something that was ready...whether I was the one who wanted the printed manual for that particular copy or not.

We've decided to synchronize releases in the future. You'll still be able to get the download right away on the day of release. But now you'll have the option of also ordering the physical version right away and knowing that we have it in stock. This requires more coordination on our side, but we think it's the best way to go for the future based on feedback we've received since we started printing manuals.

Never fear though, we're not sitting on our butts - we're using the extra time to continue polishing and improving Panzer Command. Although it's already stable and finished and technically ready to go, it can always be improved and polished a bit more - the extra time is being well spent.

YABA DABA DOO I WON I WON! I've ALWAYS said this is what Matrixgames should do so EVERYONE has an equal opportunity at the game near the same time instead of having to wait a month or 6 weeks if you wanted ONLY the physical copy. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY Dances around computer chair. ;) Good job Erik glad you LIKED my suggestion and realize it's the best method and fair to everyone. ;)

Not to rain on your party, but it wasn't actually because of your suggestion that we did this. There were a number of reasons ranging from Digital River's process to dealer complaints and customer confusion.

In effect, no - because this is now part of the planned process, we'll be finishing the manual earlier than we would have in the past so that it's done and printed around the time the game is ready to release. In the past, the manual was usually the last part in the process - that's now changed. For the Kharkov release, we could have released it sooner but we're using the extra time to improve the game further for all customers, regardless of order type. For future releases, it really will make no difference in when the download "would have been" ready since the printed manual/physical process is now planned far enough in advance.

Lol, you didn't rain on my parade, this is more about the long thread about reasons and whatfors we had a long time ago. Everybody was jumping on ME saying blah blah blah I can wait hahaha. Well now EVERYBODY waits and I think that's FAIR. ;) Plus as you said as a "reason" it gives you more time to tweak the game before release and perhaps one less bug or two thousand. ;)

Man, Printed manuals and now this. Matrixgames DOES LISTEN to its members. ;)

I still don't understand why DL users would feel punished given what I wrote above. We're changing our project task order for future releases so that in fact there is _no_ delay for download users. What we're doing is speeding up the process for physical/printed manual users. Kharkov is affected by the transition, but it's not just sitting around waiting for us to flip a switch in the store, we're still working on it in the meantime.

Hehe I knew the dlers would QQ if this happened. You can't win Erik you try to do things to make things nice for everyone and you will always have QQers. ;) We don't want bugs in new releases and you try to setup things so their will be less bugs and they QQ. I understand what you are doing even if it does fit into what I wanted you to do in the first place. ;)

OK Erik, u can call his anything you want, release it in december and pat yourself on the back, I do not care, I will purchase it and be happy, BUT my point is , I could have DL it a while ago should different decisions on how MAtrix releases its products where followed.. no worries, just an observattion. DL users are not punished, just delayed from our obvious dl process joy.

Well, I can't really understand why  *delaying* DL in wait of (naturally longer...) physical copies can "help" anyone in the end ... Looks like a pretty bad marketing idea imo [&:][8|]

Ok... folks, please read what I wrote. We're still working on the game and improving it while the manuals are being printed. If you'd rather we just didn't tell you that, I can oblige, but I figured you'd be happy to know the game would be better as a result of this extra wait.

Also, for future releases - THERE WILL BE NO DELAY - because we're going to start printing the manuals earlier in the process, so that the whole release will be ready at the same time as the download. The end result is that if last year a release would have gone out on June 1st as download only, this year it will go out on June 1st as a download AND a physical release.
