A question or 2 from a newb

Post by Phatguy »

I remember Dave mentioning it long time ago that stuff is customizable. Is salary or more specifically a salary cap possible to be edited in or would it be a bit daunting to a newbie?

Basically what i want to do is create a minor/semi-pro league(12 tms) based in WNY and edit some small stadiums(something on the nature of 3-5000 seaters.) and implement a salary cap. Also since it would be a minor league ratings would be lower. Is there a global ratings control(a ratings cap,so to speak) or would I have to edit each player down individually?

thx

Hopefully I can do the above since I just got the game right now.

Well, there is no in-game salaries or salary cap function. There is a field in each players entry in the database to add a salary and some basic contract info.

Currently, you would have to enter all the info in manually, using a database program like Access or open office.

There is an editor in development over in the utilities forum

Editing stadiums is possible, but it's not supported by David, or possible in game. You would need knowledge of Photoshop or PaintShop Pro type programs to edit the stadium graphics. To change the stadiums physically requires some knowledge of 3D programs like Truespace.
There are some user made stadiums that are great. Not sure if any are small enough for what you are looking for.

As for your leagues ratings, im pretty sure the current version of the editor I linked to above will do it.
I also asked about getting some salary options in the editor, so it may happen at some point.

Thanks GS,

I sort of figured that. I knew there was a slot for salaries but didn't know if you could have the game keep salaries under a cap automatically or not. Since I posted i have bought the game and figured out that i can use high school or college players to simulate lower ratings that  a minor league would have. Not too thrilled about the stadiums though. I will have to do it the hard way by begging and whining for a generic 3000 seat stadium..lol

Below is a link to a zip of some stadiums, custom ones.
None are mine, all other peoples work.
Probably none as small as you are looking for
