Napoleonic battalion level game

The Seven Years’ War was fought across the globe and called by some the first “World War” as virtually every major power participated. In the center of events was Prussia, almost constantly at war and lead by the now legendary Frederick the Great.

Relive the exciting and trying days of Frederick the Great in Horse and Musket: Volume I, the improved and expanded combination of the previous Prussian War Machine and Prussia’s Glory titles. Horse and Musket: Volume I is a reboot of the successful Horse and Musket series, including not only two solid historical titles in one package, but also many new game features, a powerful new editor, and a complete graphics overhaul to an already acclaimed gaming system.

Napoleonic battalion level game

Was there not a project to develop a tactal battalion level Napoleonic simulator. Was it a spin off of Horse and Musket?

The one man development team for the Napoleonic game was incorporated into the H+M team. To my knowledge the original game was canned. I'm a play tester for the new H+M version and I've seen no reference to anything Napoleonic. The new H+M is a direct descendant off Prussia's Glory etc., and only comes with some Frederick the great battles. Some members off the development team are still active military men and that is what is causing the longer than I believe anticipated launch of the game. If you liked the series you will enjoy the newest member.

Look at it this way, when they finally do get to the Napoleonic period (and I have to say they will eventually) the engine will be very fine tuned.

Napoleonics is my period of choice...we will see the engine cover that period in the future.

My intent is to work all the major conflicts from about 1700-1860. I think the game can represent these periods very well.

Great Northern War and Marlboroughs campaigns " cough ". Now throw in some Saxe and go back to Conde and Turenne and we are in seventh heaven.

Are you choosing a cutoff of 1700 because most armies had abandoned the pikes by then? Or can pikemen be represented by the game engine?

Zaraath,
the 1700 mark is just an estimate. The game engine is very flexible...if you can make the unit graphics, you could fudge anything up until the rise of mechanized warfare.

As a caveat, it is designed for the musket era, so any other periods would require more abstraction and suspension of disbelief.
