Official ladder game is bleeding dry

Post by Manus von Olie »

Hi guys and dolls ,

there's not so much people anymore for the official ladder game on the AT forum. That's a pity, because now we can make an indefinite amount of different ones, all gems, profound, and not too long. So please join and boost your ego , or learn to take severe beatings to strenghten your character.

Quit fumbling around with that dead horse, the AI, the but start to play against the real enemy, your fellow human beings...

and put yourself on the map

I signed up for the ladder, however i have yet to be challenged.  Those games seem like they would be lots of fun and somewhat more fast paced than an ED game.

Perhaps i need to check the site more, is there e-mail notification if someone challenges me?

all5n,

I just checked the community site and could not find you listed. Either you are listed under another name or you are considered "on holiday". Assuming that the former is not correct and you would be listed as all5n, then you need to log in and change your status to "available". You can find the option on your personal page. If you want to be listed on both the casual and official pages you will need to make the change for each.

Hope this helps. When someone challenges you an email will be sent. It comes as from noreply@reijkersz.nl, from the website. You might check you junkmail. It may be possible that your mail system blocked the email. If so, then the site would put you on holiday after you did not respond to the challenge.

If i remember right nobody can challenge you when your setting is "holiday" [:D]
You could also challenge others btw.

I played several games in the official ladder, but they became boring for me after a while.
It was always the same, no events, no build up or long term strategy.
That are things i prefer. That´s why i play the casual ladder yet.
I think many guy´s here just play without making it a ladder game even both are registered.

It's true what you say, Seille, after some time they might become boring if you're quite good at the game, like just another day in the slaughterhouse. But then, they're great for learning, especially for the newer people.

I signed up for the ladder, played a couple of games, & couldn't face playing any more balanced 9-turn games regardless of how they were packaged!!

Hi Smike,

You have the same reply as Seille, but still: I would like to play against you an official ladder game, you can challenge me if you want and then return to holiday or whatever.

I like playing in the casual ladder (which is still ranked) this still gives you cudoz points when you win, plus it is not such a serious gaming experience. Have only played 2 games so far, won 1 and lost 1. Also like playing non ladder based games like Diplomacy and the other multiplayer scenarios (the backstabbing and alliance making is great fun).

Not really interested in the official ladder personally for the reasons stated above, i.e. no production build up, cards, long turns, not much depth, etc... suppose its just each persons preference.

Casual Ladder Question - I'm a member and challenged somebody. The Challenge was accepted almost four days ago but so far my opponent has not replied to E-Mails from me. Now what do I do since I can't find a way to cancel the challenge out? I'll wait some more but what if I never get a reply?

Great game by the way!

(what's wrong with deers?) I would say: try to keep in touch, friendly -did you write about the proceedings in the game already?- if there's no answer after three times clear calling: make an ultimatum, like if there's still no answer in a week, then you claim a 0-0 or a 1-0 for you (depending on your mood). If there's still no answer that's a 0-0 or a 1-0 for you. It kind of speaks for itself, it's explained how to deal with a dispute.

It is really a great game (Mother of All Wargames) and if you go into it you can recreate every battle in history with the machine.
