And if so, are there many people to play against online? Or is the lobby generally empty? Thanks ahead of time.

Thanks for the question

I'm afriad Maximum-Football 2.0 has no online functionality. Making the game playable online is something I'm planning for future versions. Whether it uses a lobby system or not has not been determined.
