Two games or one game?

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Two games or one game?

Post by Fred98 »

Is this 2 separate games or one game?

If it were one game you could have the Luftwaffe attacking the UK and then with aircraft redeployed east we get the Allied aircraft attacking Germany.

Is this 2 games or one game?

It is 2 games in the one box.  Your survivors from BOB will not simply be redeployed to operate in the other direction.

Okay, just to be sure on what we got

the game is BoB and BTR, both in one game, from the menu, you can either pick to play the BoB side of the game, or the BTR side of the game (we not going to be able to have the game being able to play from 1940 though 1945-46)

(maybe way down the road something like this could come about, but really, it would need a new game engine and alot of fancy coding)

for our game, what this does, we have the same engine for both games, the rules for one, are the rules for the other (I remember when I started playing BTR, I wanted to go back to BoB, but then I missed all the improvements that BTR had added, and could never really get back into BoB like I would of liked to)

(for rules, there are some Game only rules that will kick in)

if you remember or don't

BoB has a one day, a one week, a one month and the full campaign
BoB41 also has a one day, a one week, a one month and the full 41 Campaign (which starts in may 41)
BTR has the 43 Campaign (what most people played)
BTR 44 is a Campaign starting in Feb 44 (so you by pass most of the buildup time, and just go head to head from day one, this one is bloody (the patches and OOBs from before, didn't do anything for BTR44, so it was more a forgotten child, I have reworked both OOBs for BTR, so the 44 Campaign will also be playable as well as the 43)

BTR also has a one day, training battle, some short campaigns with less units/commands/map area, a simi what if Jet Age Campaign (that starts also 20th Feb 44, this one needs more code work, as the Jet changes are code based and not OOB based)

there are 3 Night Campaigns, 2 Oil Campaigns, a Ground Attack Campaign in the MED, 2 D-Day Campaigns, and Big Week

(in the old game, with JC's OOB and the patches, most of these sub Campaigns didn't work anymore, and most ended on the first day (Map Changes, Score Changes, broke them) right now, I can say, that the sub Campaigns will work, but they are not where I would want them to be, I need Coding time to get the sub Campaigns where I want them, but UI, Bugs, Corrections and features have first call on time, so these are back burner right now)

sorry, I seem to be rambling again and drifting from the point, so if I didn't mention something, or have confused you on something, ask away and I will try and correct what I have said

(I tend to have to do that alot)

over all, I think these are two new games, but they use a common engine, that is a overly reworked engine from the old BTR game

new maps, new OOBs, new UI, updated target lists, new/updated/corrected rules, lot of old bugs gone, new features

but still, both "Games" work off of the same engine and will be in the same game, the menu will allow you to pick which half of the game you want to play

If you look at it from a gamers point of view, this are two different games that look very similar.
If you look at it from a programmers point of view, it is a single game engine used for two games.
If you look at it from a marketeers point of view, these are of course two games for the price of one.
Or you could say, it is one game sporting two theaters of operations, offering a number of campaigns/scenarios in each theater of operation.
Confused ?

Me too

I would check the current prices for various Matirx labels to get a feel for a potential cost to us when completed.

I would venture to say it will likely be in the neighborhood of $40-$60, depending on whether you purchase just a download or if you purchase both download and CD's and whatever else comes in the Boxed version they will market.

I am assuming that Matrix will have the game manuals and whatever quick reference charts on the CD or as part of a download in .pdf format or similar. That has been the case with all the other Matrix games I have purchased over the years.
