New to Game: Upcoming 2k8 stats coming?

Greetings. I have a friend that loves this game and I think he has finally convinced me
to get it. However I don't see him too often so I have a question: Will the 2k8 stats etc.
be coming as a patch with the present version so one can play the upcoming season? Or...?

I am not sure if the 2008 rosters will be in the new version, but Shaun is working on a number of improvements and extras to an already great game !!
