Mouse Problem

Post by rich12545 »

I finally got dsl and downloaded the patch. It had been a while since I've played, waiting for the patch. I found the mouse movement very jerky and erratic. Went into the launcher and tried all the settings. It seemed a little better on the slowest but still not very good. This is on full screen, 1280x1024. Anybody have an idea for improvement?

Howdy Rich,

Can you tell me which version you are using? There is the 3.8 patch and also a 3.9 beta patch. What scenario were you playing? Under heavy loads the mouse can become erratic.

Have you tried the game running in a window, rather than full screen?

I haven't hit on any mouse issues yet and even just tried running "full screen" here to check. I always run the mouse speed at the second fastest setting. I have noticed some issues at the fastest rate, but once I've decreased it, it's been fine regarding the mouse control ever since.

Cheers

Darren

Just got the new 3.9 beta.  Didn't play a game (couldn't with the mouse so jerky) so there's not a load.  Also, I just tried the windows option.  Much better but still a little erratic.  But it doesn't cover the entire monitor at 1280x1024.  There's an empty strip of about 1/4 inch across the bottom.  Also, specs are Sempron 2600 (1.6 gig), 1 gig ram, geforce 6200 (256 meg). winxp pro.  Should be good enough.  Thanks for any help.

The H3 Launcher under the Extras menu will allow you to adjust the game window size to any custom resolution. Additionally, after I have the final release available I'll make an alternative build that may improve the mouse performance. I'll put the link to that here.

Yes, I set it through the launcher.  It won't stay at 1280x1024.  When I set it there it automatically regresses to 1268x960 after starting the game.  I think in windows mode it's playable although it could be a bit smoother.  Would rather play in full screen but don't hate windows mode.  I'll check for your link after the final release.  Thanks.

I don't know about the mouse but for the resolution, I use:

VideoWidth           1280
VideoHeight          990

in harpoon.ini and that used pretty much all of my 1280x1024 screen except the task bar. If you auto-hide the task bar you can probebly increase the height by 20+ more pixels.
