In Slitherine Strategies' Legion Gold, Gates of Troy and Spartan and Chariots of War (re-releases), you will lead your nation to victory in the ancient world’s greatest battles. Control a vast empire and fight epic battles on 3D battlefields. Historical heroes to come to your aid it will take strategy to build your civilization and conquer your enemies. Gates of Troy and Spartan are fully compatible and owners of both titles can play the full set of scenarios with the Gates of Troy engine.

Game play question

I know there are campaigns for Rome and Celts etc.. What I'd like to know can you just fight historical battles? So are there battle scenarios built in where you can play Cannae and Pharsalus, as in Rome Total war ( if you can stand it ).

There are no individual battles playable in the game. The focus is more on grand strategy and the development of your nation/clan/faction.

In comparison to RTW the battles are a lot less involved but given the focus of the game more in proportion to the overall game in terms of the time it takes to resolve (usually c5 mins including deployment)
