Games for 2008

Post by PunkReaper »

Which games are you looking forward to spending your money on this year. Europa Universalis Rome coming out in April is one with Slitherine's Napoleon at War in the summer. Tempted with Pirates of the Burning Sea. But as you can see I am struggling to spend my hard earned cash. May just go for an electric guitar instead. Last year I had a good (expensive) gaming year but maybe this year will mainly be one of revisiting my old favourates.....Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My next game purchase will be Dawn of War: Soulstorm, which is released here tomorrow. It's the last DoW expansion, and I've got all the others, so...

Other than that, no idea.

But you won't actually be buying games in 2008, because you're too cheap to pay full price...

EU Rome a while after it comes out and has been patched (I've bought nearly every EU or EU-based game to date- I know how this works!).

Possibly Battles from the Bulge (I'm tired to death of the setting but like the game system a lot)

Age of Decadence if it comes to life in 2008: http://www.irontowerstudio.com/

Legion II if it ever rears its' head, and whatever that Medieval turn based game Slitherine is working on is called.

FRAPS, to take screenshots for my soon to arise website and not have to convert them all from BMP to JPG (the free version saves as BMP only)

This is about all I can think of right now, there's really nothing on the "mainstream" game front that I care about, maybe Spore after some reviews if it winds up being good.

(I've probably skipped some upcoming Matrix or maybe HPS releases that I'm not aware of yet)

As a lot of you probably know by now, I'm really starting the have the WiF anxiety attack, and yes that is due out at the end of the year. In fact, after so many delays for several years, there is now talk of it now being pushed up by acouple of months. That game will beat all these hands down.

Panzer Command: Kahrkov.

And I've just purchased H3:ANW, great game.

Maybe EU:Rome.

Well...

I never thought I would say this... but...

World in Flames.

One can't help but be impressed with the way Shannon V. OKeets has run this project. From the monthly updates to what appears to be a very thorough tutorial, this monster game, which scares the heck out of a person like me (non-board game player), now seems to be accessible to grognard and newbie alike.

Wow... never thought I would even consider this game...

More Classic Battletech literature: TechManual, Technical Readout 3039 and impatiently STILL waiting release of Tactical Operations. HeavyMetal Aero is must have. If I have money left after those, then maybe some older source books, Field Manuals and new Handbooks... this is gonna cost me hundreds of €uros this year alone [8|]
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

EU: Rome, but like others, I will wait a few months for the inevitable patches
Kings Bounty most likely
Drakensang
Vainglory of Nations
Empire: TW
Warriors of Russia
Les Grognards
Jagged Alliance 3
Dragon Age
Legion II if it is ever released.
Combined Arms if it is ever released

Looks like a solid year of gaming for me.
