TCP/IP connect to lobby but hangs up when we start it

Post by Pike »

We can connect but when we start the game network error box pops up. And after a while it times out. We have checked the firewalls and program control and it's ok there. What is it with FoF?
Woa that`s a BIG ship!

The error box you are describing opens when the TCP/IP routines we are using -- DirectPlay 4.0 -- return a dropped connection error.  When those routines tell our program that the connection is lost, there's not much more our program can do at that point; there are no lower level routines in DP4 which we can call.  DirectPlay 4.0 does have some known issues with dropped packet problems over some connections, and I would love to be able to migrate to another library at some point; that would, however, involve rewriting the entire TCP/IP architecture.
