RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
I miss Cobra - who used to manage RHS art to such an extent I didn't have to learn very much about how it works.
I was sent some ship art for Dutch BC, Dutch CL and Fujimoto BB - and it seems to be the wrong kind of file. I assumed I was sent the
right stuff - and just named it to WITP convention. I can see it in my editors. But it does not work. Probably this can be fixed by changing the art.
Investigating.
Meanwhile I note that there is a slot problem with ship art in the game - that is- apparently some classes are intended to be used with Allied art and some with Japanese art - and I have two classes in violation - so they give you the wrong image. If this understanding pans out - I shall change the class slots.

RE: RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
The files I sent you certainly aren't wrong. What's the error problem exactly?

RE: RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
OK - Joe has explained it - and I barely understand his explanation.
The files need to be in BMP format - of exactly the right size.
I got files from Terminus and Mifune - thank you both - but they had jpg extensions
and I just renamed them.
This does not work - and Joe says while one can put the images into Photoshop or something like that and save
as BMP this is not recommended either.
It is also possible I got mixed up - and somehow didn't keep the files you sent to me: I am not competent in
art due to total lack of exposure to it. I came from the world of machine language programming and test analysis -
and I am at home with algorithms and pointers - but not with art formatting, resizing and so on.
If you know how to create these images in the right form for WITP I will send out copies.
The good news is that the files are not bad - the art is bad - so new art will fix it.
The bad news is that investigating it I found five obscure cases involving three classes where the art cannot work
properly because of hard coded slot issues: I am reissuing a microupdate to fix this at this time.
I cannot release art until someone makes it - and I don't (probably) have what I need to do that.
These images ONLY affect RHSEBO - and on my machine they do not crash it - but if you have nothing in the called location - it will crach.
Cobra made a safety and our art set has Spare Bitmap images so there is no crash if an unused location is called.

RE: RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
I don't know what's happened, but the only jpegs I made of those ships were the ones I posted on the forum. None of the stuff I sent you was in anything other than bitmap format.

RE: RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
Hmmm -
Do your images work with Scenario 74 pointers?
We use 252 for the Fujimoto class
431 for the Java Replacement class
211 for the early Dutch BC
and if you have a B- type Japanese BC - we seem not to have proper art for it -
I would figure out something for it if available (we seem to be using Yamato art -
I thought Cobra did an image but if it is in the set - I am not pointing at it)
same for a Sojuz if someone did a South Dakota with secondaries and tirtiaries

RE: RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
Apparently one must restart -
we have only one remaining issue - the new Dutch BC
the Fujimoto and Java Replacement art work fine - at least for me -
{I was trouble shooting for another player - and now I know the images are right he can see them)
But I still do not see the Dutch BC
I will look at the files again
The problem with Fujimoto was it was compressed - and using expanded version worked

RE: RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
It is the same problem
the files that look OK in Windows but fail are only 3.75 kb in size
the files that work are about 30 kb in size
this file was compressed for transmission I suppose - and I need to get it in larger form

I found B-64 art in the Bloodwar mod - JnSide0174.bmp:

Erm, I sent them in zipped-up form, because forum PM can't handle bitmaps. I figured you'd know what to do with a .zip file.

RE: RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
I do not seem to be able to download these images.
I have uploaded six images
four work
two prevent program crashes but - while they look good in Windows - produce blank images in the game
If I get better art I will transmit it - tomorrow - going to work now
To use a B-64 I need to get rid of some Japanese ship - we have no free ship art slots - but I will do it if I get
the file in a form I can use - which I do not seem to be able to do from the Forum - I can capture the image but
not the file. In any case I need a shil to make it work as well.

RE: RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
one person reports crashing with Dutch BC art
so I have substituted Renown art in its slot as a temporary fix
and uploaded
until we get the right art from somewhere
If you have it - send it to Mifune who will post it

RE: RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
I just uploaded a set that should work. You can find it in the EBO scenario folder. http://rhs.akdreemer.com/RHS%20Scenarios/RHSEBO%20074/

It is my lunchtime (late at night in Alaska - I work a sort of evening shift) and art is pouring in - so we may have an art revision by morning.

That seems to work - will check it out in plus four hours.

RE: RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
Uploading corrected art for the three problem classes now.
I will try to figure out how to get a Japanese bitmap - and then we can add some new art for the Battlecruisers.
This we have never had - and it will apply to BBO family as well. We now have the art in hand - but no where to put
it. This has to be by losing some existing art.

RE: RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
The shil and side for the Fujimoto BB are not identical... The shil looks like a No. 13 BB.

RE: RHS SHIP ART ISSUES NOTICE
T you are correct. I do not know the source that Cid used for the Fujimoto. Maybe once he comes on line it can be corrected.

He used me as a source for the Fujimoto. The side is correct, but the shil isn't.

This is slightly scary - I thought YOU sent me the Fujimoto by email. Hmmm
I will see what I have
I think I got this from both Terminus and Mifune - and maybe one has a shil
