Training=drop in experience?

Post by Sergio65 »

Sorry if this has been brought up before, as I'm sure it has, but a search didn't produce any hits.

Anyway, I'm playing Yamamoto's prophecy, and am about three weeks into the first month, so things haven't really picked up yet. From the first turn I placed the F4F-4 squadron based on Noumea on a 60% training mission in preparation for the upcoming battle for Guadacanal. That unit, if I remember correctly, starts out in the mid 70s in experience, so I was a bit surprised to see it had dropped to the low 60s after a few days. My first thought was the training was causing op losses, but a quick check revealed none. What was even more puzzling was that after a week the experience level went from about 63 to 65, then after a few more days dropped again to 62. Again, the unit has not registered any losses and is up to full strength at 24 aircraft and crews. Morale is at 55 and fatigue at 18.

What gives?

BTW, on another note, has there been any talk of making a UV-type game for the Med?

The drops in experience that you are seeing are new pilots being assigned to the squadron.  If it starts at mid 70s and get inexperienced (green) pilots down the level goes overall.  Try setting the training level at 80 for a faster gain if you're not expecting any immediate threat of combat.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.
